The Kentucky Senate Republicans will have a new leadership team when they return to Frankfort next year.

Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, retains control of the body, becoming the longest-serving Senate President in state history with his re-election to leadership on Friday.

Also returning to his leadership position is Senator David Givens, R-Greenville, who was re-elected by the GOP caucus as President Pro Tempore.

A new addition to the leadership team is Senator Max Wise, R-Campbellsville. Wise is the current chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor Committee. Wise replaced Senator Damon Thayer in the leadership role after the longtime Floor Leader did not seek re-election to his seat.

 Senator Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green, returns to leadership as the Majority Whip.

The chairman of the Senate State and Local Government Committee, Senator Robby Mills, R-Henderson, won the internal race to become the Majority Caucus Chair.  

The newly elected Senate leaders assumed their roles immediately.

The Kentucky League of Cities looks forward to working with the newly elected Senate leadership team to champion policies that support cities and strengthen local communities across the Commonwealth.
