Early voting started in the commonwealth on Thursday, Oct. 31, and continues through Monday, Nov. 4.

“The process is quick and easy, though we are seeing lines, which is a good thing,” Governor Andy Beshear said during a Thursday news conference.

Secretary of State Michael Adams joined Governor Beshear at the news conference, urging Kentuckians to vote early. Both Beshear and Adams voted on Thursday, the first day of early voting.

“There’s nothing partisan about the day that you vote,” Adams said of early voting.

There are occasional and sporadic lines, Adams said of the first day of early voting. However, longer lines are predicted on Election Day, as “very high turnout” is expected.

The Emergency Management Center is being manned on Election Day, Beshear said, “to be fully prepared and ready to ensure a safe and secure election.”
