The Kentucky House Democratic Caucus elected a new leadership team after two previous team members opted not to run for re-election and another lost in November.

The 19 members of the Democratic caucus voted for Representative Pamela Stevenson (D-Louisville) to lead Democrats in the House as minority floor leader. She is the first Black woman to lead a caucus in Kentucky.

“I want to thank my fellow caucus members for their support and look forward to working with them, Governor Andy Beshear, and our legislative colleagues across the aisle,” Leader Stevenson said.  “We may be a new leadership team, but we are as committed as ever to pursuing our timeless goals of building on the commonwealth’s many successes while better ensuring that all citizens are able to enjoy that prosperity.”

Democrats also named Representative Al Gentry (D-Louisville) as caucus chair and Representative Lindsey Burke (D-Lexington) as caucus whip.

The Kentucky House Democratic Caucus elected new leaders during its annual pre-legislative session meeting, which was held in Berea this year.  They succeed previous Caucus Leader Derrick Graham (D-Frankfort), Caucus Chair Cherlynn Stevenson (D-Lexington), and Caucus Whip Rachel Roberts (D-Newport), whose terms as legislators end this year.
