A week into the 60-day legislative session has brought a slew of changes to committee assignments in the state House, including a new chairman to the House Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee.

Rep. Josh Branscum, R-Russell Springs, was tapped on Tuesday to serve as the Chairman of the House Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee. The move comes as Rep. Brandon Reed, R-Hodgenville, is expected to resign from the legislature to serve as the Agriculture Policy Executive Director under Commissioner Jonathan Shell.

The House Local Government Committee, which hears bills important to cities, gained Rep. Mark Hart, R-Falmouth, as a member.

Other committees also gained membership this week. Rep. Felicia Rabourn, R-Pendleton, had her committee assignments returned to her as she landed on the Agriculture, Families and Children, and Health Services Committees.

Rep. Adrielle Camuel, D-Lexington, who won a special election last year to fill the remainder of the late Rep. Lamin Swann’s term, was given her committee assignments. Camuel joined Economic Development and Workforce Investment, Constitutional Amendments and Intergovernmental Affairs, Health Services, and Transportation Committees.

Also joining Transportation was Rep. Kim Moser, R-Taylor Mill, and Rep. Keturah Herron, D-Louisville.
