Cities had a successful 2021 Regular Session of the General Assembly. Legislators passed 17 KLC initiatives, bills that the KLC Board of Directors identified as priorities. Many additional KLC-supported measures will become law, and legislators did not pass any KLC-opposed bills.
In all, legislators passed nearly 200 bills in the 2021 session. While the governor and the legislature litigate some of those bills, many more have already gone into effect. Those that did not have an emergency clause will take effect on June 29, 2021, and a few have delayed effective dates.
The 2021 Legislative Update is a comprehensive review of all legislation impacting cities that legislators enacted in the 2021 session. You can view, print and download the book here.
